Two Loves Sanctuary is a community-focused refuge for animals and humans, dedicated to the care, connection, wellness, and authentic expression of all beings.
Our Story
Two Loves Sanctuary came into being on February 11, 2024 when we decided to create a space combining our two loves: animals and movement. In its current iteration, the sanctuary is a bicoastal collaboration, with headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina and sister cities in San Francisco and Richmond, Virginia. From each coast, Ashley, Katherine, and Scott devote their energy and expertise to the service of animals and to bringing joyful, authentic movement experiences to their communities. With combined backgrounds in dance, somatic education, equine assisted learning, pet care, and animal rescue, we live, teach, and research at the intersection of animals and movement, exploring a shared purpose to honor the agency, dignity, and authenticity of all beings.
Our dream is to one day be stewards of a space where our two loves can flourish. Where we provide a forever home for the animals we rescue and a movement retreat where our community can witness and embody the innate wisdom and wholeness of their miraculous selves. A natural setting for all life to thrive — moving and being together in purpose, joy, discovery, and love.
As we search for a permanent home for the sanctuary, please follow our story for updates and to find out more about the heart-led work we do in each of our communities. We are learning as we go and would love for you to be alongside us in the process.
Our dream began with two loves, but we know that love is never limited. There is always more. As the sanctuary continues to grow and evolve, we welcome you on this journey and hope you’ll get in touch. We love getting mail! And we always open our letters together. If you feel called, please write to us (or email) and share what love you are currently nurturing.
